I wrote this in Saskatoon thinking that I would never show anyone, but I did and they liked it. Just a simple song about a woman who keeps leaving and coming back. I sat down and wrote it within a couple minutes. I wrote this song after watching the Merle Haggard documentary. I realized that I would never find a lady that was as good as the last one. It’s words are kind of based around the old folk tune “The Girl I Left Behind.” I always loved that song and wanted to write something similar but about my home. I wrote this song up at Christopher Lake, SK in the shed of my parents cabin a couple years back. I had part of the chorus already written.and just filled in the holes. I was thinking, “If I had to write a song about Saskatoon, what would I write about.” I had recently read a news story about happenings in the shadier parts of Saskatoon.which really struck a deep chord in me, so I decided to write a devastating song about it.
